This is all about safety. The first day they teach their students many things including safety rules for a range, hand positioning, finger control, and how to properly draw your firearm from a holster and place two shots to the thoracic cavity of a bad guy. By the end of the first day you will be shooting some rounds downrange. The second day they teach us how to reload quickly as emergency reloads or tactical reloads. Then we will learn how to clear malfunctions. Front Sight helps their students understand how to clear common malfunctions such as the type 1, type 2, and type 3. Some people call these Hang Fire, Stove Pipe, Low Brass, or failure to feed. By the end of the second day we will slowly start incorporating time. (bad guys will not wait for us to line up a shot)

The third day we are going a little quicker, we will learn how to go through a door with bad guys on the other side. They call it a fatal funnel. Front Sight Instructors want to see you live to protect your family. Then you will go through a live simulator bay with bad guy targets throughout the house. We will also have innocent kids targets we need to identify. This is the most fun part of the course for most people. We all want to go again and again.
The last day they give you a test to show how far we you have come. You will get a “certificate of completion” just for showing up, learning, and having fun. You can earn a graduate certificate which means that we were really good. If you are already an excellent shot you can attempt to get a Distinguished Graduate certificate. They might have 2-3 students earn “DG” This allows you to go to advanced classes with us in the future.
